If you have softer water with low pH, KH, and GH and wish you could keep aquarium fish, shrimp, and snails that need higher pH, crushed coral is a gentle and safe way to buffer your water. Crushed coral dissolves continuously over time. The lower your pH is, the faster it dissolves. As the pH rises, it slows down how fast the coral dissolves. Crushed coral adds a bit of hardness to the water, and it significantly boosts KH which buffers pH from swinging.
Useful in Filters or Substrate
One of the easiest and safest ways to prevent harmful pH swings in your water is to increase the KH in your water by adding crushed coral to your aquarium. You can either use it as the substrate or pour a small amount into a filter media bag to use in your hang-in-back, canister, or other media-filled filter.
Rinse Before Using
Because this product is made by crushing coral, there may be some small particles or coral dust in the bag. Make sure to pour the crushed coral into a fish net and thoroughly rinse it under running water (with no soap) to prevent cloudy water in your aquarium.
I put 3 lbs of crushed coral in my 3 month old tank that has STS substrate in it, along with some cuttlebone and a small dose of Alkaline buffer (no fish in tank at the time so as not to cause shock) and after 1 week the ph and KH are very stable! Fish went back in and are doing fine!

Crushed coral
Used the crushed coral in my filter to help with the ph in my shrimp tank. After doing so I started getting baby shrimps.

Crushed coral success
My parameters with alkalinity close to 0 and pH at 6.0 couldn't be corrected. I sent a message to customer service who suggested crushed coral. Their one pound bag was great (except shipping cost). It's brought my all to 60 ppm and pH to 7.0. I've mentioned to my local aquarium co-op retailer and they plan on ordering for their store. Thanks aqua co-op.

Small purchase, big difference!
Got this item because one of my poor shrimpies had a failed molt. It arrived quickly, was incredibly easy to use (just rinse it and it's good to add to your aquarium) and since, I've noticed all my shrimp and snails have had much better looking exoskeletons and shells. Much more vibrant shrimp, and snail shells don't have cracks anymore. Can't recommend enough.

Helping with Buffer and pH
Ordered this after seeing my tap has low pH and no buffer. This seems to be helping with both.

Crushed Coral
I use cruseg Coral on my HOB filter to help with buffering the water in keeping it in the higher PH range for certain fish I keep ie; African Cichlids. I find it better then using chemicals to buffer the water which are not stable. The Aquarium co-op crushed Coral works great, does the job and I highly recommend it.
