  • Raises pH
  • Increases KH to buffer pH
  • Adds some hardness to water

If you have softer water with low pH, KH, and GH and wish you could keep aquarium fish, shrimp, and snails that need higher pH, crushed coral is a gentle and safe way to buffer your water. Crushed coral dissolves continuously over time. The lower your pH is, the faster it dissolves. As the pH rises, it slows down how fast the coral dissolves. Crushed coral adds a bit of hardness to the water, and it significantly boosts KH which buffers pH from swinging.

Worked for my tank!

I put 3 lbs of crushed coral in my 3 month old tank that has STS substrate in it, along with some cuttlebone and a small dose of Alkaline buffer (no fish in tank at the time so as not to cause shock) and after 1 week the ph and KH are very stable! Fish went back in and are doing fine!

Stock on hand

Bought this to have on hand to control water parameters in the event my PH drops! Cheapest bag on Amazon was the price of 3 of these.

Great addition for tank resilience

Our water is soft and slightly acidic (6.4-ish) and I added two pounds of crushed coral the substrate in my 20H tank. The pH stabilized after about a week and the hardness is now in the moderate range. So much better than managing multiple chemical additives.

Best Value Around

The price in these is awesome. I use them in all my tanks, but especially in my shrimp tanks. I do spread out a few on the substrate, but mostly I bag them up in small filter bags and place them in my over-the-back filters. They're great for both my shrimps and my "pest" snails.

Keeps PH From Crashing

Before getting this, the PH in my aquarium would constantly crash. This has helped buffer the water and so I have never had PH crash since using this.

Helps to raise pH

The pH in my 10g tank was below 6.5 (I believe caused by tannins from driftwood). The crushed coral is the perfect way to slowly raise the pH and maintain it. It works! Could not find this product in LFS or in other online stores. Hooray for Aquarium co-op -- I will purchase again.
