If you have softer water with low pH, KH, and GH and wish you could keep aquarium fish, shrimp, and snails that need higher pH, crushed coral is a gentle and safe way to buffer your water. Crushed coral dissolves continuously over time. The lower your pH is, the faster it dissolves. As the pH rises, it slows down how fast the coral dissolves. Crushed coral adds a bit of hardness to the water, and it significantly boosts KH which buffers pH from swinging.
Useful in Filters or Substrate
One of the easiest and safest ways to prevent harmful pH swings in your water is to increase the KH in your water by adding crushed coral to your aquarium. You can either use it as the substrate or pour a small amount into a filter media bag to use in your hang-in-back, canister, or other media-filled filter.
Rinse Before Using
Because this product is made by crushing coral, there may be some small particles or coral dust in the bag. Make sure to pour the crushed coral into a fish net and thoroughly rinse it under running water (with no soap) to prevent cloudy water in your aquarium.
Ordered this after seeing my tap has low pH and no buffer. This seems to be helping with both.

Crushed Coral
I use cruseg Coral on my HOB filter to help with buffering the water in keeping it in the higher PH range for certain fish I keep ie; African Cichlids. I find it better then using chemicals to buffer the water which are not stable. The Aquarium co-op crushed Coral works great, does the job and I highly recommend it.

Crushed coral
It definitely helps to bring up the hardness of your water and being in the Seattle area it's a must for shrimp, snails, and a lot of fish. One thing to be aware of is it can raise your ph to around 7.4 so if you have fish that are sensitive to ph keep this in mind. There are a lot of ways you can lower ph such as some aqua soils or even adding some leaf debris which will also give your tank a more natural look. Back to the product, it works for what it's meant for and coming from aquarium co-op you can be confident it's clean and safe to use.

Definitely does the trick
I’m still new to using crushed coral, but with the guidelines and directions for preparing it (just rinsing it) it definitely keeps the ph at that perfect 7.0.

Crushed coral for low PH and 0 KH
I bought this to raise my PH and KH. I really couldn't believe how much happier my fish seemed after I added it to my HOB filter. I assume the PH and KH are low because I have a large piece of driftwood in the tank. It's the only tank with the low numbers and the only tank with driftwood. Literally the KH is zero PH is very low. I don't know how much hardness it adds because my water is off the charts hard out of the faucet. I highly recommend. I hadn't realized how my fish were being effected until after I used it and they were much happier.
