Willow hygro (or hygro willow) has long, slender leaves that look like a willow tree and elegantly sway in the current. As a stem plant, it loves stronger lighting and will grow quickly if given plenty of nutrients. Its tall, bushy appearance is perfect for filling up the background of your planted aquarium, and it can be easily propagated to other tanks.

I ordered two variety packs of plants and all the plants are doing excellent after 9 days. Lush green colors and fresh new growth are also apparent. The Willow Hygro in the center back of the video is doing exceptionally well with new growth and stems. The packaging was great and I didn't see any visible damage to the plants when unboxed. My tips: use Easy Green to keep nitrates around 40-60ppm. Place easy root tabes 1-2" on either side of all root feeders then adjust if needed a week later. I highly recommend Aquarium Coop for everything plants related. Visit their YouTube channel and forum for endless plants knowledge and care.

It's a pretty plant to have in a tank and it takes up nutrients like a fiend. Be prepared to trim weekly in smaller tanks. I have 20 gallon long but I just love the plant so I don't mind trimming. I also like that it can grow without CO2 since i do low tech tanks. Make sure to fertilize both at root as well as water column and give it good light.
I'm experimenting with this plant to see how well it grows for me. The plant I received was large, so I placed it (not replanted) into my tallest tank. It grew another 6" but I'm not sure it grew any more leaves. I was hoping it would covert, but it's been a month and it looks mostly the same, but taller. I do see some tiny leaves at the bottom of the plant, so maybe that is new growth. I'm not sure it's the best plant for me, but the plant I received was large, grew larger and is still growing from the rock wool a month later.
You simply won’t find an aquarium plant company that provides better packaging and shipping. I was initially a bit concerned because some of the stems were a little bare, and a couple of stems were broken. However, of all the stem plants I ordered, this one is doing the best.
Packaging and care for the plants was obvious. Although, for me, it took about 5 whole days before my order showed up and almost all the leaves melted off. In my tank the stems and a few leaves are still alive, but taking a very long time to come back from the harshness of shipping for 5 days. I have ordered other plants in the past without as much time passed or melting so this could have just been a fluke.
Came in good condition, stringy little things, but I can't wait to see them glow up. Only time will tell if this plant likes me or not.
