Potassium is a very important macronutrient for planted aquariums. If aquatic plants don't get enough of this nutrient, they can develop distinctive pinholes that are sometimes rimmed with brown or yellow. While Easy Green all-in-one fertilizer already contains plenty of potassium for most planted tanks, Easy Potassium is a useful supplemental fertilizer for people who are running high light planted tanks with CO2 injection or have lots of potassium-hungry plants (like java fern and anubias).
Signs of Potassium Deficiency
Looks for pinholes in your plant leaves. Adding more potassium won't repair current damaged leaves. However, it can prevent new leaves that grow from getting holes.
Why Do I Need More Potassium?
Easy Green has high concentrations of potassium in it already. However, some plants such as Java ferns and Anubias like to consume a lot of potassium. Also, sometimes your tap water can be high in nitrates, phosphates, and iron. Your plants love this but are left starved for more potassium. Aquarium fertilizers need to be in balance. Water structure and plant choice can cause the need for additional potassium.
Fish, Shrimp and Snail Safe!
Like all of the Aquarium Co-Op fertilizers, Easy Potassium is completely safe for fish, shrimp, and snails.
Absolute W. If your tap water is rich in nutrients like mine - over 10 ppm nitrates out the tap with significant phosphate dosing extra potassium is a must. The one flaw to the easy line is fixed. Now there is no argument to be made. The easy line is the best line of ferts on the market, and can work for every tap water imaginable.
