Cryptocoryne undulata Red is a great beginner plant that features long, wavy-edged leaves that are green and reddish-bronze in color. It has a similar appearance to C. wendtii 'Red,' as well as the same easy care requirements. Because this is a medium-sized crypt which grows relatively slowly, it serves as a great low maintenance midground plant. It will thrive under low to medium light and send out runners as it grows.

I've always been a bit wary of crypts, but this one has converted me! It traveled beautifully, was easy to plant, and is thriving in my tank with sand and root tabs. Bonus: my fish love it. The honey gourami and corydora like to hide among the leaves, and the betta likes to use it as a backdrop to show off his fancy finnage.
This has been such a great experience that I ordered 7 more crypts for my betta coccina tank.

All of my plants arrived cold but bounced back quickly. I purchased the liquid fertilizer which seems to be working well. I wish I had also gotten root tabs. Only one of my plants is not showing growth but that is due to my fish eating the leaves before it could get much. It's still hanging on though
Melted away to nothing. I have a natural aquarium so I didn’t bother with salt or peroxide to kill hitch hikers. The crypt wasn’t in great shape when it arrived. I put it directly into my 10 gallon (well established) quarantine tank with deep sand substrate. The plant immediately melted away. What a waste of money.

Plant came in beautiful and healthy. Planted in my tank with tons of root tab on March 6 and as of today, March 17 … no melting. I have had several Cryptos, most melted within days, but came back strong. I have some that died within days, as well.
I hope (with fingers crossed) stays strong.
I've had this planted for about a month now. It was large, well packed, and looked great upon arrival. Minimum 'crypting'. Love it!
