Awesome but I wish it was adjustable

It works great for large tanks, but for anything nano (less than 20gal) it's overkill on the flow. I wish I could adjust the rate in half to make it more suitable for my slow fish. But if you have fish that love fast water, this is perfect. This is great for tossing my marimo moss balls around too. I'll have to take if off because it'll demolish my floating plants, but I'll put in a different tank instead :)

How Quiet? 3 Month Review

After trying out 2 of these power heads for nearly 3 months, I must say they are definitely worth the value and I know I would pay more than $20. The outflow nozzle that can be moved side-to-side and extra-long cord are perks I wouldn't expect to see at this price. I recommend giving it a try. Their customer service is second to none if it doesn't work out.

For anyone concerned about the noise level, in my opinion, it comes down to how sensitive you are to noise. Compared to an air conditioner, refrigerator, air purifier, running water, etc., this is definitely quiet. However, If I am near my aquarium with absolutely no other noise, it surprisingly does not run on magic and has a small motor that I can hear mildly humming away. I've gotten used to it in my 22 gallon long that I work beside. The added flow has been so beneficial to my plants and fish that I can't go back to only air-driven sponge filters.

(For hypersensitive people, I recommend getting a couple of the mini USB air pumps and replacing them when the diaphragm starts to wear out. They are incredibly quiet!)

To summarize, it's been a good purchase. 9/10 because they couldn't make it run on magic. ;)

Great Source for Flow

I love that this power head stays where you put it and has multiple possible orientations. The flow rate it provides is great for the size, but I do wish it was adjustable. I love that the medium prefilter sponge fits on the intake perfectly, and the versatility of the unit as a whole to provide lots of different functions in the fish room! I like to have an extra on hand just in case something “comes up” - which it always does with 40+ tanks. I’d definitely recommend this power head in its current state for the versatility it provides, but adding adjustable flow would make it a no brainer.

Aquarium Co Op power head

I just purchased this item to use with the small sponge filter. I have a 29g freshwater tank and my Hob filter just didn’t seem to move enough water on the opposite end of the tank. My thoughts were to have the power head with the sponge filter attached, to move water from the dead zone towards the HOB filter and increase flow. BOY did it! The flow is so so strong, it was blowing my Harlequin’s to the other end of the tank. I asked how I could fix it so I could use it as I’d intended and Cory was so nice and offered a couple of suggestions, one of which was, put a prefer sponge over the outflow. That worked great and it acted as a damper, but still increased flow and the clarity of my tank is much better!
My only suggestion would be to provide an adjustment feature or include a flow regulator.

Power Head

Works just fine, really like the long cord and that it fits the sponge filter as advertised.

Looks good!

I only tried this briefly, but it works fine. It isn’t silent, but it is has a low steady sound, unlike a competitor’s product.

Your imagination is the limit with this tool. I very much appreciate the consistency with the Aquarium Co-Op developed products. A lot of thought and testing went into little pump, you can see it with the long cable, the quality suction cup plate and how it’s sized to rig with other parts.

Quiet and powerful

Great compact power head that moves a lot of water for its size. Also very quiet. The possible uses are endless!
