Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Buffer is a special blend of carbonate salts formulated to replicate the natural habitat of African cichlids by increasing KH (buffering capacity), alkalinity, and pH. When used as directed, Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Buffer will maintain a pH of 7.8–8.4 for Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria cichlids and a pH of 9.0–9.4 for Lake Tanganyika cichlids. 

For best results, use in combination with Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Salt to raise the GH (or general hardness).

Great for African Cichlids and Livebearers

I have softer water where I live, and because I enjoy keeping African Cichlids as well as livebearers, I use buffers to provide the necessary minerals and hardness in my aquariums that these fish need to thrive. I have been using this product for a few years now, and it has been a huge benefit in my fishroom.
