If you have rooted plants in your aquarium, Easy Root Tabs are a great option to give your plants even more nutrients than substrate and fish waste alone. They're packed with mineralized top soil containing red clay and many other essential minerals plants need to thrive. Unlike many other aquarium root tabs out there, Easy Root Tabs do not contain ammonia-based ingredients and will not cause harmful effects if the contents of the capsule are released into the water column.
Monthly Plant Supplement
Our Easy Root Tabs make it easier to deliver fertilizer right to the roots of your plants. Our blend of mineralized top soil and nutrients provides all the essential building blocks that plants need to grow and thrive. Replenish monthly or as needed to keep your plants looking their best.
Hungry Root Feeders
Many plants like Cryptocoryne and sword plants prefer feeding from their roots and need nutrient-rich substrate. If these plants start yellowing and melting back, feed them lots of root tabs to ensure they grow big and healthy leaves.
Stronger Roots
When you use root tabs, this encourages the plant to grow stronger and more plentiful root structures. This helps prevent the plant from getting accidentally uprooted by Corydoras and other fish that dig for food.
Root Tab Placement
When first planting, place root tabs directly under the plant. Each month you can expand outwards with the root tabs as the roots will continue to stretch out through the substrate. Large plants often need several root tabs — 1 in the center and a few in a circle around the plant.
Usable in all Substrates
All substrates can use root tabs. The goal is to have a rich-nutrient substrate that consists of a mix of fish poo and nutrients. Root tabs bring the essential nutrients that can be missing from your fish food. Enriched aqua soils start out as a rich nutrient substrate, but over time the nutrients are consumed and need to be replaced or re-mineralized with root tabs.
Fish, Shrimp, and Snail Safe
Easy Root Tabs are safe for fish, shrimp, and snails. They are best planted at least an inch below the surface of the substrate.
Build the Easy Planted Aquarium
For the ultimate Easy Planted Aquarium, use Easy Root Tabs paired with Easy Green fertilizer and the Easy Plant LED to get incredible results and healthy plant growth.
I recently tried the Easy Root Tabs, and while I found it a bit tricky to insert them into the substrate at first, there are plenty of helpful YouTube tutorials that made the process much easier. Once I figured out that you need to poke a hole in the tab and insert it at an angle, it was simple to use. After using them, my plants are thriving and showing great growth, so I’m really happy with the results. Overall, they’re effective, and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking to boost plant growth!

Awesome price point
I love getting these instead of the “popular brand”…way more concentrated product at a HUGE difference in price. Don’t pay for the name brand. If like me you’re used to tablets, two tips. Just squeeze and twist the capsule to sprinkle over substrate before gravel. Or pinprick each end to bury under substrate without the hassle of it getting away from you.

Easy Install
Have used a number of root tab products, with my only gripe being they float. They will get loose from my long tweezers on occasion (tough to push into Fluorite substrate), and they bolt to the surface, which is a pain in a 24-in deep tank. Just put down 30 this morning, and a few got loose, but stayed put on bottom; a nice surprise. Just re-grabbed and quickly jammed under the gravel. No coming out of the tank, dripping water everywhere, just to catch a now slimy capsule that then breaks apart by that time.

Noticed an almost immediate change
I have developed a substrate recipe that does very well and grows plants for longer than most commercial substrates. I bought these tabs, partially out of curiosity and partially to see if they could add anything to my honed substrate formula (I had low expectations). Well, I was pretty shocked. Definitely have had to eat several helpings of crow. Apparently, my "perfected" mix is still missing a few things that Aquarium Co-Op has figured out (kudos). My root-feeding plants are looking more vibrant, healthy, and happy - something I didn't think was possible. I would definitely recommend.
