Taxiphyllum sp. 'Spiky Moss' is like the bigger cousin of Christmas moss because of its spiky, deep green "branches" that extend out in multiple directions. When attached to hardscape, it can transform a normal piece of driftwood into a moss-covered branch lying deep within an unexplored forest. This moss is very undemanding and grows well even in very low light conditions. As with most other mosses, you can easily propagate it by breaking off a clump of moss and relocating it to another area.
100% Free of Pests
Tissue culture plants are "lab-grown" at the farms by taking a tissue sample from an existing plant and growing it in a sterile nutrient medium. While tissue culture plants tend to be smaller and more expensive than potted plants, they are 100% free of snails, algae, and duckweed.
We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge
We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.
Cups Protect Plants in Shipping
Tissue culture plants have been optimized for long term storage. From the day that they are cultured, these plants are designed to stay in cups for months. This makes them especially forgiving during transit when they are in a box on their way to your home.
Originally this plant was placed in my 55gal, but it didn’t do well. It eventually turned brownish and found itself next to the sponge filter. I took it out and put it in my 10gal, algae rich tank, and it is now growing! The plants in my 10gal do much better than the 55gal, and I don’t know why. Fish don’t do well, but snails and plants love it.

As always, best quality
I wasn't sure what to expect with my first tissue culture purchase, but I was blown away by how healthy and vibrant my moss is. There was no melting period to speak of, my shrimp adore it.

Cherry Shrimp love the Spikey Moss
First time buying tissue cultures. Ordered the Spikey and Flame moss. Both are thriving in my tanks. I divided the moss culture between 3 different tanks and it is doing great in each one.

Beautiful spiky moss
I had never tried plant tissue cultures so thought I'd give it a try. When it arrived it was beautiful - bright green and healthy looking. I attached it to driftwood in a couple tanks and to cholla wood and it's doing great. Very happy with spiky moss and would buy again.

'spiky moss' tissue culture
Arrived in vibrant, healthy condition. This is the second time ordering this plant. Couple months ago, used it on some driftwood in 29 gallons tank with great results inspiring me to order some for the 55 gallons tank setup. Had to glue medium size pieces of dragon stone together to form two larger show pieces. The spiky moss was fantastic at hiding where joining pieces looked irregular, aiding to the look of one solid stone. Also used some on cholla wood because it's easy to split into multiple separate plants. Love this plant!
