Pogostemon stellatus 'Octopus' is very eye-catching due to its long, wispy and bright green leaves. This easy stem plant thrives under low to medium light and provides excellent cover for fish and shrimp to hide out. Once it starts getting established, it can grow quite tall in a short amount of time and may require regular trimming.
We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge
We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.
How We Grow and Store Our Plants
We store all of our plants in aquariums with plenty of light and fertilizer to start converting their leaves. This picture is from our warehouse. Not all vendors store their plants in water; many store them out of water in bags straight from the farms. This is more time without light and doesn't give them a head start in growing underwater leaves.
When I ordered this plant, I thought I would want to order more, but didn’t. So glad I didn’t!!! This plant doesn’t stop multiplying and will happily take over your tank, if permitted! It propagates easily, so far I had to remove some from my 55gal and put in my 40gal. And as it establishes, it grows even bigger in diameter. My lord, lol!! Much more than I was expecting. Which is both good and bad.

My First Plant
This was my first attempt at a live plant, other than moss balls. I was told it was easy and fast growing. I put it in an Easy Planter. The plant is easy, yes, because it is still alive for a beginner. I've had it for a year and a half now and it has finally taken off. I did not use root tabs right away, and I see my mistake there. I have trimmed it a couple of times and it is currently to the top of my 20 gallon high. It turned out to be a great experiment. I'm looking at what easy plant I can try next.

Smaller than expected
Just received my plant. Really excellent packaging, but the plant was much smaller than I expected from the website photo. I likely should have gone to my LFS and not been a lazy online buyer. Probably won't buy plants from aquarium co-op again even though the plant seems healthy.

Pogostemon thriving
I purchased my first pogostemon stellatus for my son’s first tank, a 20 gallon high. While I have several decades experience in the hobby, I have very limited experience, and even less success, with aquatic plants. I am happy to report that the pogostemon is thriving 45 days since purchase. This tank has a very basic led light (single stand of white bulbs), gets a little morning sun, and I use Easy Green 1x week plus a root tab. I plan on propagating this plant soon to use in my 70 gallon.
