Bucephelandra 'Black Pearl' gets its name from its dark-colored leaves with a deep green to almost red color. This slow-growing plant has similar care requirements to Anubias plants and will thrive under low light. Bucephelandra Black Pearl is a rare beauty that would be great addition to nano and large aquariums alike. It will grow along via its rhizome while producing small, rounded leaves.

I received this in good condition and it has been great so far in my new tank. I chose this because I like the look of it and bucephalandra was recommended to me as a good starter plant for my betta tank. The specimen I received came apart into two clumps which was perfect for placement in my tank. I glued it to a piece of driftwood. It hasn't suffered melt and it looks healthy. I am excited to see how it geows in the coming months.

I usually have good luck with ACO plants and they are my preferred online vendor when my LFS doesn't have what I need. Sadly, this one was a bad deal. The item was comprised of 3 scanty pieces with minimal rhizome pinned to rock wool, with leaves already beginning to melt at arrival. So, it started as a 3 star, but a little melting isn't unusual, and many plants will bounce back. Not this time. The leaves completely melted, as did what little rhizome was present, days after attaching to rock and submerging. If the rhizome that was shipped hadn't been chopped up quite so small (perhaps a stingy plant nursery?-- this isn't usual ACO quality) and had been left as just one larger piece, perhaps something could have survived and regrown from the rhizome after the leaf melt. Total loss, plus extra detritus to clean from the tank and filter. A tissue culture buce that arrived in the same shipment is doing much better, fortunately.
Plants arrived healthy and larger than I expected. I will definitely order again.
This is my first buce, it showed up quickly and well packed, I like the water retention bags these ship in. This is for a tank that hasn't been setup yet so I have it in a small tank right now still in the rockwool. It's been a few weeks and neither this or the anubias nana petite have had any melt. It was cheaper to buy meds here than from the big everything online retailer so I could afford to add a few plants to the order to get free shipping for only a few bucks more than the meds alone cost on the other platform.
I put this, 2 Anubis and a crypt in my convict parrot breeding tank to let them acclimate to my water before the get attacked to anything and they not only haven’t melted, but have noticeable growth after a few weeks!
