Vallisneria (also known as "val" or "straight vallisneria") has been a popular choice in the hobby because of its ease of care and long, grass-like appearance. Its hardiness makes it great for goldfish, African cichlid, and community tanks. Vallisneria grows very tall in an aquarium and can drape over the top to make fish and fry feel secure. Once well-established, val spreads quickly by sending out baby plants via runners where you can get a new shoot as soon as every 3 days.

Fast-Growing Vallisneria with Quick Establishment

I heard that Vallisneria would take some time to establish before growing fast, but the day after I planted them and added Aquarium Co-Op Root Tabs, they were already sending out runners and growing more Vallisneria. They established in my aquarium quickly and are growing fast. Great plant for anyone looking to add greenery to their tank!

So far so good!

I purchased this and planted it in the back of my 40 gallon breeder tank. It has only been a few weeks but so far it looks healthy and there is a new sprout coming up. I’m hoping it will really fill in the back of my tank and I’m very happy with it so far!
