  • Unique marbled leaves like little watermelons
  • Tall stem plant that forms bushy clusters
  • Easy to grow even for beginners

Lindernia rotundifolia 'Watermelon' is a top seller at the Aquarium Co-Op fish store because of its extraordinary appearance and easy care. This marbled variety has rounded, green leaves with variegated striping that resemble little watermelons.  Unlike most stem plants that look "leggy" at the bottom, the lower leaves of this species are quite hardy and less prone to melting.

Pretty plant but…

Very pretty plant and I love how it looks in my tank, but I ordered two and one is dying. The other one seems ok so far. I have them next to each other and use a root tab so I’m not sure why one is ok and the other isn’t.

Very pretty

I’m new to planted tanks. I have a 2.5 gal Fluval to hold my old mama guppy and old amano shrimp. I wanted to learn how to do low tech plants. I picked this one to try. It is very pretty and seems to be doing well

Arrived in Great Condition, Died Quickly

All my plants arrived in excellent condition and I submerged them in my tank for 2 days to try and acclimate them. When I went to plant everything, I noticed that the Lindernia plant was very difficult to remove from the rock wool. I did what I could but ultimately some of the roots were fused to the wool and I could not remove without ripping off the roots so I planted it. The whole plant melted within a week and I did not feel it was salvageable so I removed it. I don't necessarily know if there was anything wrong with the plant, but I would say this particular plant is not as easy as claimed. The leaves seemed to be very delicate. My future orders will only be for plants with sturdier leaves as they seem to be doing the best in my tank.

Not Adjusting Well

The plant arrived healthy. Not doing well adjusting in my aquarium though. It's currently melting and being eaten by bladder snails. Not anyone's fault though!

The great melt

Arrived in beautiful condition. But now it is just few short stems. I am hoping that they will take off and flourish. Patience and nutrients.

Strong

Out of all the plants this one stands out. In the sub-straight or floating.

Second try with this plant as the first was not converted and melted after being placed in my tank.
This plant came partially converted to submerged growth with a great yield. Was able to plant several pairs of stems in 3 different tanks. Seeing small shoots growing in all 3 tanks in a week and optimistic about propagating this one. Will update in a few weeks, but happy so far!

Great little plant

Great little plant, finally got a chance to buy it before it sells out. Love the way it looks.
