Questions & Answers

What is your favorite thing about working at Aquarium Co-Op?
For me, it is all about the people I get to work with side by side. When I come to work, I know I am going to be greeted with a positive attitude by everyone. When we have a goal to reach, everyone works as a team to push toward that goal, meet it, and then celebrate our wins. The team I work with is here for each other, and we all want everyone to succeed. Being part of a great team has to be my favorite thing.

What is your career background?
I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in business administration. A large part of my experience and growth has come from working with my last employer for 4.5 years. Over the course of that time I had the privilege of working in reverse logistics, launching a delivery station, launching an AR sortable warehouse and working for one of their central operations teams. Prior to that opportunity, I managed a distribution center, was a program manager for a college, and was in the military.

What has been your best moment while working for Aquarium Co-Op?
My best moment has been getting to build the Lexington warehouse and team. When I arrived at the warehouse, it was empty with only pallet racks in place. Now the warehouse is filled with products and full of people.

What do you do in your daily job at Aquarium Co-Op?
As the warehouse manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day activities of the warehouse. I lead the team based on safety, quality, and productivity. I also ensure the warehouse is running efficiently and that we are continuously improving. Since we launched the warehouse in Lexington, I have been working with the team to create a safe and efficient work environment, which is also enjoyable for everyone here.

What's it like working for a company in the pet fish industry?
It is very different from any other company I have worked for due to the live plant aspect of the warehouse. For me, it is exciting getting to come to work and handle plants on a daily basis. It is also exciting to learn about different plants and see them live as I learn about them. While I don't currently keep any aquariums, my kids would like to have turtles in the near future and that will probably be my family's first aquarium.
