The Apistogramma cave is a small terracotta cave with a hole on one side. They are designed for spawning Apistogramma species as well as other dwarf cichlids. Kuhli loaches, shrimp, small plecos and more will also find valuable shelter in this cave.

Apistogramma, kribensis, and many types of cave spawners love laying their eggs in these apisto caves. Depending on how many breeding pairs you have, you can buy several to place in various corners of the aquarium to make sure everyone gets their own space.

Nice Hiding Spot

Kuhli loaches, dwarf shrimp, corydoras, smaller plecos, and even eels have been known to seek shelter in these apisto caves. Just make sure they are small or flexible enough that they won't get stuck inside.

Smaller than you think

Just fyi, this Apisto cave is smaller than you might think. I was surprised and pleased, because I didn't want this ridiculously large cave in my tank. Also, my female checked it out right away, and has been hanging out there regularly since. It's definitely attractive to her. I really like this cave and I'm glad my Apistos do as well.

A tad smaller than expected. Nice quality. It’s in with the apistos now. Hope they start spawning soon.

Seems like a solid purchase.

Just received it today. Can't wait to try it out. Looks like a good fit for smaller species that would otherwise get lost in a coco hut. Seems like it'd also be useful for females of larger species to hide in if they're not interested in the male's attention. If all else fails, my shrimp seem to enjoy it even if I don't end up tempting any apistos.

favorite cave

i got one of these in addition to two of the pleco caves as i have some smaller super red bristlenose plecos, and i wanted to have some options for them.

its been several months and 3 spawns and the male has chosen the apisto cave as his favorite, he doesn't even look a the other caves.

even tho there is zero room in the cave now for two plecos, they somehow make it work!
