Sponge filters offer reliability and hassle-free operation. With no moving parts, all you need is an air pump with some airline tubing, and you've got a filter that is fully contained within your aquarium.  Sponge filters are completely reusable, don't need any replacement cartridges, and last for several years. Plus, they are gentle enough for betta fish, baby fry, shrimp, and other slow-moving species. Trusted by fish farms and wholesalers, they are an excellent choice for aquarium filtration that you can set and forget.

So quiet

We are new to the fish world and inherited our tank from a friend when he got a salt water tank. I THOUGHT I would love the sound of running water all the time from our previous hang on back filter. But after a couple of months it started to annoy me at night. We also live in an area with a lot of power outages. And were always concerned about the pump having to prime while we were away during the day. We decided to switch to the sponge filter for those two reasons. We got it installed yesterday and I've got to say the silence is beautiful. The fact it has it's own battery backup for power outages really sets my mind at ease. Thank you aquarium coop for your tutorial and information videos. I've learned so much from them and feel like I can successfully be a fish parent.

Really elevated my tank circulation

I love this filter. It has done wonders for my tank and keeps the water moving without overwhelming my fish. Highly recommend this to bring movement and oxygen into the tank.

Wayyy Easy Flow

I have been a fan follower and customer for years now. I’ve Always been 100% satisfied. I had to write a review for this sponge filter. From set up to placement only took a couple of minutes. My shrimp were immediately like “Heyy check this out!” LoL
Thank you Aquarium Co-Op team for all the help. You answered my product question email expeditiously so I could place my order. You’ve provided countless videos. I’ve watched most. I stumbled across Cory years ago. He bridged my love of plants and being an Aquarist.

Minor Noise Complaints

I used to use the sponge filter from Hikari which works fine and just wanted to give a try on this one. It is unexpected that this sponge filter slightly nosier than my Hikari sponge filter.

Hikari filter doesn’t need the air stone to make the bubble smaller and reduce the bubble noise. But this product making minor buzzing/crackly noise from the air collar. I can make the noise less by taking off the pipe on the top, just using the air collar.

Noise itself is minor issue, I don’t notice during the day time while other noise, TV, music or people talking are present. Only time it bothers me just at night when I’m alone reading/studying. Wish I have the choice to buy without airflow kit, but overall very satisfied my purchase. Additionally I’m proud of myself that I invested on small business rather than franchises or Amazon😉

Close to perfect

First off great product, I run them in all my tanks, only 2 downsides I’ve found is out of the box I don’t like the angle of the top piece, you can warm it up and shape it a little bit but it can turn sideways quickly, other thing I noticed is if you develop an algae problem at all in your aquarium the air collar gets clogged really easy. Other than that great product.

Sponge filter

Sponge filters give me peace of mind ,no moving parts, no air stone . They do a great job eating up waste . Super easy to clean . My opinion that the size of the pours on the filter makes it perfect . Started out with one and up to four !!

Super Impressed

I've never been a big sponge filter user but I just built a 75 gallon setup where sponge filters were going to be the best option for it and man am I impressed with these! 2 of these sponge filters are keeping that 75 gallon tank every bit as clear as canisters and hang ons I've used in the past! Highly recommend these if sponge filters are what you're going to use!
